Writer, photographer, gardener and communication expert.

Kingdom Plantae

Mauricio Tolosa, born in Chilean Patagonia, is a writer, photographer, communication specialist and gardener. His work over the last decade has focused on regenerating our connection with plants through various practices of co-creation with them.
Inspired by writers and thinkers such as Matsuo Bashō, Francisco Varela, Gilles Deleuze and Gilles Clément, his approach explores free and open co-creation between humans and non-humans. His co-creative practices are carried out with respect and reciprocity towards the world of trees and plants, aligning with the cosmovisions of the indigenous peoples of the Americas and animist traditions. Through this journey, he has hybridised with plants, becoming a Biomestizo.
He shares his work through various media, including books, photographs, videos, gardens, vibrational essences, workshops and lectures. His recent works include Mi Maestro el Manzano (2023), a diary recounting his journey into the heart of the Plantae Kingdom; Arborecer (2020), a collection of haikus accompanied by photographs; and angelos (2017), a photographic and poetic essay on the numinous. In 2018, his short film Do Apple Trees Dream? was selected for several film festivals focusing on literature and nature.
He is currently undertaking an artistic residency at the Centre International des Récollets in Paris.
